How it Works

We’ve designed our memberships to fit every type of homeowner. Many people aren’t sure what the best next step is to protect their home, and that’s where we come in. If our membership page doesn’t fully answer your questions, you can schedule a free 15-minute video call with one of our experts, book a 30-minute in-home walk-through, or simply call the office—we’re always happy to help you make a plan.
Before your first appointment, we recommend jotting down everything you’d like to address—repairs, improvements, or ideas you’re excited to complete. Having your list ready helps our team review and plan efficiently with you during the Intake visit.
Once you become a member, we’ll contact you to schedule your free intake visit. One of our Lead Technicians and our Home Project Specialist will visit your home with two goals: first, to complete a detailed intake that includes photos of materials, finishes, fixtures, and serial numbers—everything that helps us work efficiently in the future; and second, to create your master to-do list. This living document tracks all current and future projects, as well as an archive of completed work. It’s updated after each visit to keep everything organized and your priorities clear.
At JonnyDo, we think of work in three levels of scope: Tasks, Projects, and Jobs.
Tasks are smaller items from your to-do list. You can book a half-day minimum (3.5 hours) or a full day (7 hours), and we’ll tackle your list one item at a time. Examples include replacing light bulbs, installing new smoke detectors, changing out door handles, or swapping a faucet or P-trap.
Projects typically range from two to ten days and often require a second technician. These need a bit more planning to confirm materials, finalize design details, and ensure the work fits your budget and long-term home plan. Examples include replacing a few windows, rebuilding deck rails or stairs, or adding a small pergola.
Jobs are larger undertakings—the kind you’d traditionally hire a contractor for. Examples include a kitchen or bathroom remodel, or building a new deck. These are fully bid so you’ll know exactly what to expect in terms of scope, materials, and pricing.

You can expect that a lead technician at JonnyDo is skilled across multiple trades, including carpentry, finish plumbing and electrical, drywall, general tasks, and repairs. Each lead has a solid understanding of the complete home system, allowing them to diagnose issues accurately, plan efficiently, and complete work to a high professional standard.
We have been studying and witnessing the handyman problem for the last twenty years. The issues we set out to address are reliability, cost, and quality. Our large team and membership model allow us to be highly responsive to our clients while maintaining consistent standards and predictable pricing.
Our team of technicians are highly experienced and trained in our philosophy. You can expect that each member of our crew has a strong foundation of knowledge and skill, covering most of what you would need when calling a handyman.
We also have specialized team members and licensed contractors, ensuring that there is no project we can’t handle. This structure allows you to save money by working with one point of contact for all trades that work together efficiently.
Our goal is to keep you as a member for the long term. As a result, we are always motivated to pass savings on to our clients.
We are currently serving the East Bay area, including Berkeley, Oakland, Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda. We are continuously expanding and look forward to serving your area soon.
We cover a wide range of services, but in keeping with our goal of providing quality work and saving our clients money we stay away from a few specialties. These include: Landscaping, Appliances, and 24 hour emergency plumbing calls.
Absolutely not. There will be a defined amount of work included with the Membership you choose. Beyond these hours you can add as much work as your home needs, whether its tasks, larger jobs or even remodels.
At JonnyDo we set out to solve the Handyman problem. As contractors, we were repeatedly hearing things like, “My handyman didn’t show up,” “I’m not even sure if they know what they’re doing,” or “They didn’t finish the job they started.”
By using a membership model, we know exactly how to staff for the clients we serve. We maintain a profile of every home, assign the same technicians consistently to those homes, and focus on building long-term relationships.
Because of that structure, we’re always incentivized to save our clients money, complete jobs efficiently, and keep every home running smoothly.
Before executing a task list, we will complete a shopping trip to prepare for the jobs at hand. Technicians may occasionally reach out beforehand to clarify details and ensure the visit is as efficient as possible. A $15 shopping fee applies to cover this preparation time. If a technician needs to leave and purchase materials during a job—which is sometimes unavoidable—the time spent shopping will be billed at a reduced hourly rate.
Because many of our memberships include pre-paid hours and services, the JonnyDo Membership requires a one-year commitment. However, if the included hours have been used and the client has paid for all work performed, there is no obligation to continue the membership. Our goal is complete satisfaction for every client, and we will always do our best to achieve it. If a job is not done to our customer satisfaction, we will go to great lengths to correct that job free of charge.
JonnyDo is not a platform. It’s a homegrown business with a team that is personally trained and vetted by us. We’re not building technology for you to search through random people in your area—we’re providing our own trusted technicians and access to our wider vetted partner network through your membership.
About 95% of our work is performed by our in-house crew of carefully selected and trained technicians. We also maintain an extensive partner network of trusted subcontractors and specialized trades that our clients benefit from. For full-scale remodels, it’s common for our subcontracting partners to be involved, but for ongoing maintenance you’ll have an assigned JonnyDo Lead Technician who knows your home inside and out.
Our middle tier (Fix and Maintain) and top tier (Maintain and Improve) members both enjoy complimentary seasonal maintenance checklists. The top tier receives a more comprehensive version of these lists, designed to provide a full turn-key experience. Our entry tier (Fix On-Demand) also receives the seasonal checklists, giving homeowners the knowledge to properly maintain their homes, though the work itself is not automatically included.
During your intake visit, we focus on two main goals:
1. Gathering detailed information about your home
2. Creating your personalized to-do list
Collecting thorough information upfront is what makes us far more efficient than your average handyman service. One of the biggest inefficiencies in home maintenance is unnecessary trips to the store or back to the house to check measurements, materials, or fittings. By documenting this information from the start—free of charge—we eliminate those wasted steps and save our customers time and money in the long run.
Your to-do list will include everything your home currently needs, as well as any ongoing issues you’d like addressed. It’s a rolling list that evolves over time: completed tasks move into an archive, and new items can be added as they arise. Each item will be documented with photos, measurements, and material notes, creating a detailed and efficient record that helps us plan and execute work seamlessly.
